At Mayflower Secondary School, our Student Leadership Programme serves as a platform to develop the generous spirit among our Mayflowerians. We deepen the inculcation of respect by celebrating differences and contributing to society with empathy. Our student leaders embody our core principles: To Serve with Commitment, To Lead with Moral Courage and Empathy, and To Grow with Open-Mindedness.
We believe that every Mayflowerian is a leader who deserves the opportunity to develop their leadership qualities. Therefore, leadership opportunities are provided to all students at various levels, ensuring inclusive participation in building our caring school community.
Our Student Leadership Framework
Inspired by our shared vision, every group of student leaders in Mayflower plays a unique role in their respective leadership positions. Our student leaders demonstrate courage to do right, the mindset to learn and serve, and the heart to lead by example with pride for school and nation. They practice servant leadership and peer leadership through five key practices: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart.

Student Leadership Executive Committee (Excos) | These leaders build a caring school community by modelling the way and supporting all student leaders to serve, lead and grow together. They provide strategic leadership through school culture enhancement, leadership development oversight, external collaboration, and personal leadership growth initiatives. |
CCA Leaders | These leaders build resilience within their co-curricular activities by intentionally creating supportive environments that nurture optimism and strengthen self-belief among members. |
Peer Support Leaders | These leaders build supportive peer relationships and advocate positive well-being messages across the school community, both in physical and online spaces, promoting our MF 3CHEERS programme through mattering and compassion. |
Student Councillors | These leaders build unity and a strong sense of belonging by strengthening school spirit and collective identity through major school events and traditions. |
Class Ambassador (Environment) | These leaders build supportive and sustainable classroom environments by reinforcing positive routines and responsible use of resources whilst fostering class spirit. |
Class Ambassador (Peer Supporters) | These leaders work within their class to build supportive peer relationships and advocate positive well-being messages, looking out for peers in distress and promoting wellness initiatives. |
Community Ambassadors | These leaders build key citizenship dispositions through National Education experiences and sustainability initiatives, developing students' sense of belonging, sense of reality, sense of hope, and will to act. |
Arts Ambassadors | These leaders cultivate resilience in the strive towards personal best, empathy and optimism through activities they initiate in CCA and Aesthetic activities. |
Through comprehensive training platforms, mentoring opportunities, and real-world leadership experiences, our student leaders develop essential skills including design thinking, active listening, conflict resolution, team building, and strategic visioning.
